Scope and Content Temporary camps at Castlecraig, Scottish Borders These Roman temporary camps are at Castlecraig. The larger camp is built on an uneven, narrow ridge next to the Roman road from Newstead to Castledykes. The smaller camp is built on higher ground within the larger. This is an aerial view of the site. It shows the smaller of the two camps. The lower side of the camp is shared by both, but at the entrance, the line of a second ditch breaks off, and turns upwards, separating the two. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
