Scope and Content Aerial view of St Johnstone Football Club, McDiarmid Park, Crieff Road, Perth, Perth & Kinross This aerial view shows the new stadium, which is composed of four all-seater stands giving a capacity of 10,673. On the right is the club's all-weather practice pitch. Following a series of disasters at football stadiums in the 1980s and 1990s, new regulations were brought into place which required teams in the English and Scottish premier divisions to become all-seated. This led to St Johnstone moving to their brand new stadium, and a supermarket was built on the site of Muirton Park. St Johnstone Football Club was founded in 1884 by members of the St Johnstone Cricket Club at Recreation Park in Perth. Muirton Park in Dunkeld Road was the club's home from 1925 until 1989, when they moved to a new all-seater stadium at McDiarmid Park, on the outskirts of the city.
