Scope and Content Aerial view of Kessock Bridge, Inverness, Highland Kessock Bridge was built in 1976-82 by the Cleveland R D L Kessock Consortium in association with Helmut Homberg and Trafalgar House Engineering Services Ltd. It was modelled on the Rees Bridge over the Rhine. The central span is supported by steel cables strung in a harp-configuration from a spine of four steel towers. 20th-century Inverness is the result of continuous expansion begun in the early 19th century. Popular with retired people since its connection to the rail network in 1855, its main industries are now brewing and distilling, and tourism. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
