Scope and Content Farmhouse, Elcho, Perth & Kinross Elcho Castle Home Farm is mainly of interest as part of its setting adjacent to the castle. The buildings date largely from the late 18th century and early 19th century, with later additions. The architect was W M Mackenzie. This shows the asymmetrical two-storeyed farmhouse with its slate roof and harled walls. Built in 1845, its south front (left) has three windows with dormerheads and finials at the apices of the gables. It has been much altered and added to. The north front of the farm steading is particularly important in regard to providing a setting for the castle. There is also an interesting circular dovecot which is probably late 16th century and has a rat course, stone nesting boxes and is steeply intaken at the top. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
