Scope and Content Gray's Cottage, grounds, Rosehaugh House, near Avoch, Highland Rosehaugh House was built in 1798 for Sir Roderick Mackenzie of Scatwell. It was altered twice for the Fletcher family: in 1872 by Alexander Ross; and in 1898-1903, by William Flockhart, in grandiose French Renaissance style. It was demolished in 1959. Gray's Cottage was built in about 1900. Its design is influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement. The Rosehaugh Estate was purchased in 1864 by James Fletcher. Originally from Avoch, he had grown rich as a merchant in Liverpool. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
