Scope and Content Manse, 25 Castle Street, Fortrose, Highland Fortrose began as a settlement belonging to the canons of Fortrose Cathedral. It became a royal burgh in 1590, but in 1691 was said to be still a 'little village'. By the later 19th century, the town was an established holiday resort. The Manse on Castle Street was probably built in the late 19th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
