Scope and Content Grange Villa, Chapel Green, Earlsferry, Fife Earlsferry was the terminal for ferries across the Forth - mainly to North Berwick and Dirleton - during the Middle Ages. Accepted as a royal burgh in 1541, it was in decline by the 18th century, but revived as a seaside resort in the late 19th century. Grange Villa was probably built in the 19th century at the time when the town was developing into a resort. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
