Scope and Content Entrance hall, Carnegie Centre, Dunfermline, Fife The Carnegie Centre was built in 1901-5 by Hippolyte J Blanc of Edinburgh as a sports centre and swimming pool. It was modified and extended by James Parr and Partners in 1979-84. Though the exterior of the building is Scottish Renaissance in style, the entrance hall, with flattened pillars or pilasters and its plaster moulding, is Classical, creating the feeling that the centre is a kind of temple.
