Scope and Content Rear facade of Culross Abbey House, Culross, Fife Culross Abbey House was built in 1608 by Lord Edward Bruce of Kilns. It was largely rebuilt as a three-storeyed mansion in 1830 by Sir Robert Preston. This was partially dismantled in 1955. Only three windows survive from the top floor of the main block which has been shortened by three windows on each side. The stubs of the once-tall flanking towers are capped with the bell-shaped or ogival roofs from the original four-storeyed structures. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
