Photographer: ‘DMW’ Date: ‘1959’ Forfar Town and County Hall, Angus Forfar Town and County Hall was built to replace an earlier tolbooth after nearly ten years of discussion. The architect's plans for a steeple were rejected. The MP David Scott of Dunninald donated three crystal chandeliers to mark the completion. The stone for the front came from 'Tolbooth Quarry' at Craignathro. The clock was installed in 1804 when the leaky cupola was replaced with a flat roof. The war-memorial windows on the first floor were designed by A L Russel and installed in 1952. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
