Scope and Content Written on the back of the mounted print: ‘Shire: Fife. Place: Falkland. Building: House of Falkland – Stables. D H S’. Photographer: ‘CHC’ Date: ‘July 1960’ Stables, Falkland House, Fife Falkland House was built as Nuthill House in 1839-44 by William Burn for Onesiphorus Tyndall-Bruce whose wife inherited the Falkland estate. The interior was remodelled by R W Schultz for the Marquis of Bute who had purchased the property in 1887. The stables were built in 1823 by John Swinton. The clock and its octagonal tower were added in around 1901 by Donald A Stewart. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
