Catalogue Number MS 8022

Scope and Content This is the report of archaeology works carried out by AOC Archaeology Group between 28th February and 20th July 2005, (draft copy dated 22 September 2005), on behalf of Historic Scotland, following the discovery of human remains following ploughing. Surface stripping resulted in the identification of over 200 individuals. Skeletal material at risk from further ploughing was rescued, in 260 cases, with at least 66 more deemed safe and left in situ. Dating to 9th or 10th centuries was suggested. Excavation also revealed a small stone church or chapel, and a ditch running across the site. The report consists of 106 pages, bound with more than another 100 pages, of tables, and figures; also context descriptions (960), finds register (1282), sample register (133), and photographic register (colour slides, black and white prints, and digital downloads). Also plan and section registers, and a copy of the relevant entry in 'Discovery and Excavation in Scotland'. Grid Reference: NT 6016 8476
