Photographer: 'G N' Date: 'July 1965' 1965 view of Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN: The Royal Infirmary was built in 1832-40. It was one of the many neoclassical works of Archibald Simpson, a merchant's son who practised as an architect after returning from a tour of Italy in 1813-14. Aberdeen, Woolmanhill, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Health / / Hospital / DIGITAL IMAGES From 1800-1840, a generation of prestigious young architects led by John Smith and Archibald Simpson remodelled Aberdeen in Grecian neoclassical style and improved the infrastructure to meet the needs of the city's expanding industries.
