Description Motherwell, Craigneuk Street, Anderson Boyes Heat Treatment (Dept. 12, west bay built 1945): Interior view from north west in the west bay of one of three Wild Barfield Carbo-drip heating furnaces, and cooling pot (right). The furnace is fuelled by clean endothermic gas (produced by a generator on the other side of the bay), and heat treatment is required for the hardening of components of machines, such as gears.
