MS 7684

Description Report: 'An Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment and Walk-Over Survey for a proposed Private Dwelling Development, St Peter's, Kirkhouse, South Ronaldshay. Orkney'

Date 4/2007

Collection Orkney Archaeological Trust

Catalogue Number MS 7684

Category Manuscripts

Scope and Content Orkney Archaeological Trust Projects Unit was commissioned by Mr and Mrs Critchlow to conduct an archaeological desk-based assessment and walk-over survey of an area to the west and south of St Peter's Kirk, Kirkhouse, South Ronaldsay, prior to a programme of private dwelling development. This demonstrated that the area has both known sites of archaeological interest and previously unrecorded archaeology. The opening of trenches for proposed development would have a negative impact upon the archaeological resource and therefore further archaeological work is recommended. A number of options are listed, the minimum requirement being a watching brief on any proposed development. The report consists of 16 pages.
