MS 7609

Description Report: 'A survey of archaeological sites on part of Corrybrough estate, Raigbeg, near Tomatin, Inverness-shire'

Date 2/2012 to 3/2013

Collection Records from North of Scotland Archaeological Society (NOSAS), Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number MS 7609

Category Manuscripts

Scope and Content The report records a survey of the archaeological sites on part of Corrybrough estate, carried out by members of the North of Scotland Archaeological Society between February 2012 and Maarch 2013. Only one feature had so far been recorded by RCAHMS; four post-medieval settlements appear on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey. Five days were spent walking over the area and drawing sketches, resulting in a gazeteer of sixteen sites, labelled CB01-CB16, mainly cleared townships or shielings, also a boundary wall, a possible kiln, sheepfold and a 1945 memorial. This is a 9-page report, including text, map, diagrams and photographs
