Scope and Content Map titled: 'Perspective View of Lerwick from the North End or from x. This is a Fortification built by Charles II in the year 1660. But never was finished. By William Aberdeen in 1766. Lithog. by W & A K Johnston Edinburgh'. Text: 'Brassay Sound. Every year Betwixt Eight or Nine Hunder Dutch vessels makes their rendivous here before they go to the fishing, and was it not for this Dutch men, the Town of Lerwick would soon decay. The Dutch leaves Peas Barly Chease, and Money for Stokings. Lerwick, lies upon the east side of a hill, the houses stand for the most part with their end to the shore, the street is painted yellow. And from A to B the Rockes rise out of the sea perpendicular, notwithstanding there is no Bulwark, from B to C the shore is sandy'.
