Scope and Content Temporary camps at Eshiels, Scottish Borders Two Roman temporary camps have been identified at Eshiels by aerial survey. The W side of the smaller camp forms part of the W side of the larger camp. There are no surface remains. Sections of the camps can be seen as cropmarks in aerial view, such as this one. The smaller camp has central gates in the N and S sides, each protected by a titulus. The larger camp has Stracathro-type entrances in the S and E sides. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
