Administrative History RMJM became involved with Libya after the 1969 military coup led by Colonel Gadafi, which initially appeared to endorse the modernisation of the state by exploiting the oil boom. After the 1973 revolution things became more difficult. Robert Matthew had been introduced to Gadafi by Doxiadis. The contracts included planning of housing, roads, public utilities, social institutions and various industrial facilities. Robert Matthew’s apolitical stance in an increasingly anti-West political atmosphere still enabled RMJM to win the commission for the Jamahiriya Museum in 1982.
