Scope and Content A large collection of drawings formerly in the possession of Watherston and Sons: it includes many feuing plans and plans submitted for tenders, as well as earlier architectural drawings, such as James Craig's surveys of Mount Stuart, 1777. The collection includes Ancrum House; Borthwick Castle; Drummore House; Douglas Gardens and Rothesay Terrace, Edinburgh; Duddingston House; The Hirsel; Mount Stuart House; Prestonpans Church, and Sunlaws House.
Archive History The collection was presented to RCAHMS by John Watherston and Sons in 1973. In addition to material from projects by the firm, it includes earlier architectural drawings acquired in the course of business. Includes copies of drawings previously catalogued under Collection 1069.
System of Arrangement The collection is arranged by building.
Access Conditions There are no restrictions upon access, except where necessary for conservation reasons.
