Scope and Content A collection of material relating to the work of John Marshall: material includes a sketchbook c.1911, illustrated lists of works, a 1951 diary, a photograph album citing architects and sculptors, two postcard albums and a copy of the volume The Scottish National War Memorial 1932.
Archive History The collection was donated to RCAHMS in 2005.

Administrative History John Marshall (1888-1952), sculptor and stone carver, worked with Sir Robert Lorimer, Hew Lorimer, Phyllis Bone and Louis Deuchars among others. Works include heraldic panels on the Scottish National War Memorial, St Andrew's House, zodiacal panels on the Linen Bank, George Street, symbols of the evangelists at St Peter's, Falcon Avenue, all in Edinburgh, and further afield, Sheffield Central Library and Manchester Cathedral.
