Scope and Content This report (volume 1 of 2) consists of the first 33 pages af a 48-page document prepared by the Centre for Field Archaeology, University of Edinburgh, in May 1998, on an archaeological evaluation of the A92D Arbroath to Dundee Road Improvement. (Index shows that missing pages appear to have been 16 maps, but these may be the same as the ones in Volume 2 - MS 5724). The evaluation was commissioned by Angus Council, in advance of proposed improvements to the A92 between Claypotts, Dundee, and Elliot in Arbroath. A desk-based study had been carried out the year before (CFA report no 378). This is a summary report: the full results are contained in Volume 2. 519 trenches in 30 land parcels were sampled, most features located were of post-medieval date. At least nine features or areas af archaeological interest were noted.
