OS 6" map (1957)

The site of a cairn during whose removal in 1865 an inhumation and a Calais Wold group battle-axe, 5 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches were found. "In 1955 the site was indicated by Miss Dunlop daughter of the farmer who removed the last traces of the cairn; and the stone axe was in the possession of Mr G Milroy, the present tenant of Fardenreoch, in accordance with the wish of the finder that it should remain on the farm." (visited by OS (JD) 6 October 1955).

No further information. The axe is still in the possession of Mr Milroy, Fardenreoch.

Fardenreoch NX 202 864 NX28NW 5

This cairn stood 250m WNW of Fardenreoch farmhouse, at the junction of the Linkumtoy Burn and the Duisk River. In 1865, when it was removed, an inhumation and a battle-axe were found.
