Today the most tangible reminder of Kelso Railway Station is Station Road, which ran from the centre of Maxwellheugh to the site of the station. When the station closed to passengers in 1964, it had three platforms, a main building containing the booking office and accommodation for the stationmaster, and waiting rooms. To the east were several sidings with a goods shed, an engine shed and carriage sheds, as well as a crane.
Nothing survives of the engine shed today, though it is shown on the first edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map of 1860. Photographs taken in the 1970s show that it was probably able to accommodate two engines, and had a long louvred ventilator built along the ridge of the roof.
