Repair of the Church.
Letter from John Bertram to James Watson of Saughton. He
enclosed report and estimates from mason and wright.
Walls require to be pinned and harled, gables flattened and steeple
partly taken down. Some seats require flooring, 2 new joists are
needed for the ceiling and a window make on either side of the pulpit.

of Saughton. Tradesmen have begun to repair the passage and floor
of the Church.
The Estimate is 60 guinaes for additional work that entails
making a new pulpit and seats.

108. Heraldic Tablet, Cranshaws Church.
Built into the inside wall of the present church, above the north door, is a tablet carved with the Royal Arms of Scotland. Above the shield is an open crown; Supporters- Two unicorns sejant, collared, and chained.
