NT58NW 6 5329 8531.

(NT 5329 8531) Bronze Age Cists found (NAT)

Three cists containing remains and urns have been unearthed below the 50ft contour in the area between Carlekemp plantation and the burn E of Link House. (The first discovered is described on NT58NW 5). Twenty other cists were discovered 340 yds S of high water mark, while skeletal remains were found at the burn side just below the 25ft contour.

RCAHMS 1924, visited 1923

Dr J S Richardson sites these cists to NT 5329 8531 and describes them as Bronze Age short cists. The human bones, without cists, were found at NT 5301 8524.

Field Visit (8 August 1923)

Below the 50 feet contour in the area between Carlekemp plantation and the burn east of Link House three cists containing remains and urns have been unearthed. The first discovered is recorded in the Proc. Soc. Ant. Scot. vol. xxxiv., p. 122. Twenty other cist burials were discovered 340 yards south of high water mark, while skeletal remains were found at the burn side just below the 25 feet contour.
