(North British) Railway Company.
Name Book 1852

The remains of Fushiebridge Station are situated immediately SE of a stone built road overbridge (NT36SE 142.02) carrying a minor road from the A7 to Standpretty, about 155m NE of the former Catcune Mills.
All that could be seen on either side of the former trackbed of the Waverley Line (RLY 4) were sections of the platform, with at NT 35290 60254, the sloping SE end of the down side platform. Traces of buildings including a brick built building were noted on the S side of the trackbed immediately SW of the stone overbridge. Additionally what may be a broken concrete gradient sign was found on the trackbed, with the numbers 0/42 indented into it.
On the N side is a long stone retaining wall and immediately behind at a higher level, is a levelled area which formerly supported freight sidings. The trackbed to the immediately SE is also wider, presumably to accommodate the additional tracks connected with the junction of the mineral branch leading to the Esperton Lime Works (NT35NW 16).
The station, sidings and associated bridges are depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the 25-inch OS maps (Edinburghshire, 1893, sheet 13), showing platforms to the NE of the road overbridge, whereas the 1st edition 6-inch (ibid) only shows platforms to the SE. A photograph taken c.1940's (ML 3769), shows that the station building was on the down side platform between the stone overbridge (NT36SE 142.02) and the footbridge (NT36SE 142.01).

Project (April 2009 - February 2015)
The Borders Railway Project proposals are to reinstate the Newcraighall to Tweedbank section of the former Waverley Line. The reinstated railway line will be approximately 48km long and the majority of the route will use the existing railway embankment.
Several field surveys, archaeological evaluations and standing building surveys were undertaken by CFA Archaeology from April 2009 until February 2015.
