On a low rocky knoll which rises some 10ft above the general level of the hillside, there are some slight remains of an oval enclosure which was bounded by a single palisade. Originally the enclosure probably measured about 215ft in length by 150ft in breadth, but almost the entire N half of the palisade trench, including the entrance, has been obscured by former cultivation. In the S half, how ever, the trench appears on the surface as a shallow groove about 2ft in width. The interior still exhibits several slight hollows and scarps, and, although no precise shapes can be recognised among these, it is probable that they represent the last vestiges of the surface traces of timber houses. (See also NT03SE 27.)
RCAHMS 1967, visited March 1960.
The palisade tranch around the S half of the enclosure is visible; elsewhere it is obscured by cultivation.
Surveyed at 1:2500.
Visited by OS 11 August 1972.
Scheduled as Mitchelhill, palisaded enclosure and cairn.
Information from Historic Scotland, scheduling document dated 4 March 2002.

The enclosure and surrounding area was surveyed by RCAHMS using GPS at a scale of 1:2500. Visited by Dave Cowley, Strat Halliday, Alex Hale, Ian Parker and Julie Candy [19th, 20th, 21st February and March 28th 2002].
