Archaeology Notes

NS89NW 23 8124 9922.

NS 812 992. A round cairn is situated on a low ridge, 800' OD, 1,050 yds ENE of Pendreich. It measures 40' in diameter by 2'8" in maximum height. It is mostly grass-covered, but a shallow depression in the centre, possibly caused by excavation, reveals a few boulders.

NS 8124 9922. A turf-covered cairn as described. The central boulders are not part of a cist.

Cairn, Sheriffmuir Road.

On a low ridge, 800 yds. WSW. of spot-level 776 on the Sheriffmuir Road and at a height of 800 ft. O.D., there is a round cairn measuring 40 ft. in diameter and 2 ft. 8 in. in maximum height. For the most part it is covered with grass, but a shallow depression in the centre, which may have been caused by excavation, reveals a few boulders.

This cairn measures 12m in diameter and 0.8m high; a slight depression at its centre may have been caused by an excavation.
