A barrage balloon mooring site has been identified from a wartime RAF oblique air photograph (No.1 CAM oblique, AF613, flown 7 May 1942) situated in the grounds of the Foresthall Institution. It is not known whether the site has been removed during the post-war period.

Activities

Field Visit (18 April 2017)

Nothing is now visible in an area occupied by houses of a World War Two Barrage Balloon anchoring site, which is shown on an RAF photograph (No. 1 CAM oblique, AF613) taken on 7 May 1942. The site was one of an extensive network that protected the population and industry of central Glasgow and the Clyde from low flying enemy bombers.

Visited by HES, Survey and Recording (ATW, AKK) 18 April 2017.
