NS 086 580 Site 42 Drumreoch (new site)
This courtyard farm of mid 19th century construction was demolished in 1993, leaving only a large shed standing on the site. At some point before these buildings were put up, Drumreoch farm had occupied a different site (see 44), and the house of Mid Quogach Butt stood on or close to the present site.

NS 0866 5801 Recently demolished farmhouse: Located on level eminence above Stravannan and Kingarth. There are foundations of a farmhouse and outbuildings demolished in 1993. Sheds were retained. Not in record before 1750. Farmhouse built c.1850 on or close to the site of Quochag Mid Butt. Earlier references are to a different site; see Old Drumreoch.
Information from Bute Natural History Society Deserted Settlement Survey (1991-9)
(RCAHMS WP000273)
All that is now visible of this farmstead, which comprised a farmhouse and a C-plan range that were largely demolished and removed in 1993, is the W wall of the W wing of the range, which stands wall-head high and now forms the W side of a recently-constructed bale store. The E part of the range is overlain by a large modern shed and the site of the farmhouse is now waste ground.
Two 18th century maps show that an earlier ‘Drumreoch’ farmsteading was situated about 480m to the NW (NS 083 583) at that time, and the present site was occupied by a single building, annotated ‘South Mid Butt’, one of the ‘Three Butts of Quochag’ (Foulis 1758-9; Mitchell 1771). These smaller farms were later amalgamated and a new farmstead built at this site, and depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1869, Sheet CCXV).
Visited by RCAHMS (AGCH, JH) 23 April 2009.
