(Location cited as NR 527 672). Old Pier, Craighouse, built 1814, engineer Thomas Telford. A curved rubble pier protecting a length of quayed shore.

Field Visit (August 1974)
NR527671. This pier was erected under the direction of the Commissioners for Highland Roads and Bridges in 1812-14 in accordance with a plan and specification prepared by John Sinclair, road surveyor, at an estimated cost of £712. The pier is constructed of local rubble blocks and is L-shaped on plan, having landing-steps on the inner side of the main sea-wall; a second flight of steps was subsequently constructed on the outer side of the sea-wall.
