Gothic church dating to the 1820's, built on the site of an earlier church.

NO 3956 5972. The parish church was built in 1828-9 on the site of its predecessor which probably dated from the end of the 15th century (Warden 1880-5) although the only carved stones found when it was removed were of the early 17th century.

A previous church, dedicated to St Columba, was granted to Inchaffray Abbey (NN92SE 4) in 1287, and in 1429 its patronage was transferred to Brechin Cathedral (NO56SE 12).

Cortachy, Parish Church and Burial-ground NO 395 597 NO35NE 2

The 19th century parish church of Cortachy stands within its burial-ground upon the site of its predecessor which was said, in 1794, to have been built 'about 300 years ago', but 'to have undergone some reparation.' The church of Cortachy is on record in the 13th century.
