Activities

Publication Account (1865)

A stone cist containing an urn was found some time ago in a field W of Layston, on the N side of the road.

Name Book 1865.

Field Visit (21 February 1969)

No information was found regarding the cist and urn. The area in which the cist is said to have been found is mainly arable and contains several natural, ploughed-over mounds, one of which, at NO 1795 3812, is quite massive and only partly ploughed over. It is possible that the cist was found on top of this mound.
