NO12NE 4 1711 2584.

'Rectangular foundation, 31 1/2ft x 14 1/2ft'.

Information from M E C Stewart 29 August 1953.

Field Visit (10 October 1963)

At c.NO 1711 2584 is the grassy outline of a rectangular structure c.7.5 x 4.0m which may represent the site of a building. Adjoining its NW side is the outline of a sub-rectangular enclosure c.10.0 x 5.0m which, although irregular in shape, may be the mutilated foundation of a second building.

Surveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (E G C) 10 October 1963.

Field Visit (8 June 1989)

(Formerly classified as possible deserted farmstead). Lying on a narrow terrace immediately below the eastern defences of the fort NO12NE 2, there are the remains of a building measuring about 10.3m from NE to SW by 5.4m transversely over all. The walls have been reduced to low grass-grown footings up to 0.7m thick and 0.3m high, but several inner and outer facing-stones (up to 0.2m high) can also be identified. A low field bank abuts the NE corner of the building and a small enclosure is attached to the NW side.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 8 June 1989
