Occupation sites yielding potsherds, bone and midden material, were found on low hills standing above the machar scattered between Loch Bee and the sea, and west of Drimore (NF 76 40) The mounds were found by air photo examination and confirmed on the ground during 1956 by Ancient Monuments Inspectorate investigators.

Only 10 of these sites were located, usually evident as low mounds with concentrations of shell and bone. These were at NF 7580 4028, 7580 4010, 7629 4093, 7573 4474, 7572 4472, 7574 4465, 7581 4460, 7578 4456, 7563 4443 and 7580 4407 respectively.
