Husabost, 1794; extended c.1840 and 1908 Laird's house on water's edge, its status denoted by a tree-lined avenue descending past a stone-walled garden. An old Nicolson house, it was enlarged by Dr Nicol Martin, who bought it in 1840. A somewhat ungainly wing thrusting out on the lochside front provided - somewhat anachronistically for its date - a new drawing room on the first floor with a coved ceiling and enriched plaster cornice. Library wing added 1908.
