Accessing Scotland's Past Project

No 7 Woodmarket is a narrow three-storeyed tenement sandwiched between two larger buildings. Probably built in the early nineteenth century, the building is plain when compared to its neighbour at Nos 1-5 Woodmarket. As with many buildings in Kelso's town centre, the ground floor of this tenement building is occupied by shop premises. Originally the shop front comprised a row of pilasters flanking the windows and door but this has been significantly altered through time. The upper floors of the tenement have been rendered, and a simplified form of pilaster defines either edge of the building.
