Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Probably built in the first half of the nineteenth century, Lyme Cottage is a two-storeyed house with an attic and a basement, set back from the road. The front door is approached by a flight of steps over the basement area below. The front of the building has been rendered and styled to look like bull-faced ashlar, where the centre of each block is left rough like rubble while the edges are smooth.
