ND49SE 20 4695 9089

Mr A Laughton, Kirkhouse uncovered part of what appeared to be a stone coffin, containing bones, about 2.0m deep in a natural sandy knoll, about eight years ago when removing part of the knoll to extend his farmyard. He covered it up again without investigating.

Visited by OS, 6 May 1973.

Field Visit (August 1997)

The landowner uncovered part of a 'stone coffin' containing human bone whilst in the act of removing a small, natural, sandy knoll. The cist was located 2m below the surface of the knoll. The remains were re-covered without further investigation. The site was not located during this survey.
