On the 22nd April, 1889, Mr G Petrie, Little Wart, Burray found a hoard of Silver objects, including 10-11th century coins, in a wooden bowl, while cutting peat in the North Town Moss. The date of the deposit ws probably the earlier part of the 11th century. Now in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS).
