Field Visit (11 June 1951)

Houses, Ancrum.

Most of the houses in this village are comparatively modern, but in the locality known as Causewayend there are five two-storeyed houses of a late 18th-century type, all of them harled and with exposed dressings. All have slated roofs, but at least the one at the E. end of the group was originally thatched.

RCAHMS 1956, visited 11 June 1951.
