Activities

Field Visit (7 November 1929)

Dovecot, South Pitdinnie.

On the farm of South Pitdinnie is a tall rectangular dovecot measuring externally 17 feet 2 inches square. The lintel bears the date 1799, followed by initials which are now illegible. There is one string-course in the wall. The flanks are crowstepped and contain entrances for the birds, other entrances being formed in the slated roof. The dovecot contains a potence or pivoted ladder.

RCAHMS 1933, visited 7 November 1929.
