(Location cited as NY 183 652). Newbie, boiler works, built 1898 on by Cochran & Co. A large group of single-storey workshops of various dates. The original bays are wooden-framed, with Belfast roofs, and are wooden-clad: later additions are steel-framed. Two early Cochran boilers are preserved in the apprentice-training school.

Newbie boiler works, situated on the W bank of the River Annan to the SW of Annan town (NY16NE 133), has been recorded from aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 1994). Latterly known as Cochran's Boiler Works the site was recently taken over by Rolls Royce Power and is thought to be the 'largest boiler works in Europe'.
