Desk-bound survey was commissioned by the landowners of a proposed opencast site. Field survey was undertaken in the part of this area deemed archaeologically sensitive by Strathclyde Regional Council. Among the monuments recorded were two curvilinear alignments of rubble running from NS 5360 1171 to NS 5361 1169, and NS 5370 1164 to NS 5373 1163; either land clearance or the remains of a drystone dyke.
