Archaeology Notes

NN91NE 69 centred 9898 1687

Little now survives of the tileworks that is depicted in unimproved ground to the E of Millands farmstead (NN91NE 70) on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perthshire, sheet cviii, 1866). Only the robber trenches of three of the four roofed buildings that are depicted on the map can be traced; the largest of them measures 33.3m by 7.7m. Adjacent to the buildings there are several mounds of spoil and slag, and to the SE, the clay-pit survives as a grass-grown hollow. A sluice and pond are also shown on the map.

Visited by RCAHMS (ARG, IF), 24 November 1995.
