(ND 2498 7221) Cists found 1872 (NAT)

OS 1:10,000 map, (1976)

A few weeks ago, while ploughing, Mr Darling, the tenant of Greenvale came upon two cists, each of which contained human bones. The stone forming the cists were very much broken up in removing them from the earth and are now lying by the roadside. Mr Campbell, the school-master of Dunnet, visited the ground on the day of discovery of these cists and has written a description of them in the Northern Ensign of June 15th 1872.

Name Book 1872.

All that can be seen is a slight rise in the corner of a ploughed field.

Visited by OS (J M) 22 April 1982.
