Field Visit (14 April 1994)
NX56SE 39 centred on 584 644
Two subrectangular buildings are situated within a system of fragmentary field banks on the valley floor to the E of the Little Water of Fleet. The larger building (Cree94 189, NX 5850 6451) measures at least 10.1m by 5m over faced-rubble footings 0.9m in thickness and 0.5m in height. It may have had two compartments, but the W end has been disturbed and the interior supplemented by clearance. The second building (Cree94 190, NX 5849 6445) measures 5.7m by 2.4m within rubble footings spread to 0.9m in thickness and 0.3m in height. Neither building is shown on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Kirkcudbrightshire 1852, sheet 37).
On a terrace to the WNW of the buildings there is a field (centred on NX 588 646) containing rig, measuring about 4m between furrows, and aligned from E to W.
