Activities

Field Visit (23 March 1994)

NX56SE 32 56540 62359 and 56519 62293

There are two levels driven into the W side of the valley of the Big Water of Fleet. The N mine (Cree94 219, NX 56540 62359) runs in from the W bank of Pool Ness as a rock-cut water-filled passage. The other mine (Cree94 218, NX 56519 62293) is visible as a collapsed level running into the back of a terrace about 55m from the W bank of the Big Water of Fleet, with a dump of spoil at the ENE end.

There is a tradition that lead ore has been extracted from the W side of the Big Water of Fleet, near Upper Rusko (Wilson and Flett, 1921).

(Cree94 218, 219)
