(NT 4387 3713) Grassy foundations of a farmstead. An old road descends to the Caddon Water (see NT43NW 30).

A farmstead comprising one unroofed building of two compartments, one partially roofed building, four roofed buildings, one of which is a long building, and one enclosure is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Selkirkshire 1863, sheet vii). Two roofed buildings and two enclosures are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1982).

Activities

Field Visit (1982 - 1988)

The Manpower Services Commission funded Border Burghs Archaeology project (sponsored by Borders Architects Group) carried out excavations in the burghs of the region, created the Sites and Monuments Record for Borders Region and carried out field survey in support, including plane table surveys of selected sites under the direction of Dr Piers Dixon.
